Join The Museum of Kansas City for our 13th Annual Día de los Muertos Celebration, an evening honoring the rich history, traditions, and cultural significance of Mexico’s Day of the Dead. This beloved community event is presented in partnership with Mattie Rhodes Art Center, Stone Lion Puppet Theatre, and La Mega KC.

Pay What You Wish means admission is required, but you choose the amount you wish to contribute.

Please note: Professional photography and videography is not permitted anywhere on Museum grounds or inside the Museum.

Your Ticket Includes

  • Live music by Mariachi Estrella KC
  • Puppetry by Stone Lion Puppet Theatre
  • Traditional dance performances by Grupo Folklórico Izcalli
  • Complimentary children’s face painting by artist Jessica Manco, Kathryn Messick, and the Van Horn Art Department at Café 3218
  • Participation in the indoor and outdoor Community Altars. Guests are invited to bring remembrance items to place on the altars. Please note that items left on the altars will not be returned.

Know Before You Go

  • Plan to spend approximately 1½ to 2 hours at the event.
  • Wear comfortable shoes.
  • Enter through the south gates on Gladstone Boulevard.
  • Street parking is available along Gladstone Boulevard and surrounding Museum streets.
  • Please do not block residential driveways and observe all City parking regulations. Vehicles parked illegally may be towed.
  • ADA accommodations are available. Please contact us at 816.702.7702 upon arrival.
  • Restrooms are located on the Museum’s lower level.
  • Professional photography is not permitted anywhere inside or outside the Museum.
