Join us at The Museum of Kansas City for a joyful afternoon celebrating the traditions, flavors, and community spirit of the Chinese Harvest, also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival, presented in partnership with The Society of Friendship with China and the Xi’an and Yan’an Committees of Kansas City Sister Cities Association.
Held during the season of the full harvest moon, this family-friendly event honors themes of gratitude, reunion, and cultural heritage through hands-on activities, storytelling, music, art, and cultural experiences for all ages.
Guests are invited to explore the history and symbolism of the festival while enjoying a dragon dance performance by Blue Valley North High School students, live music by UMKC scholars, lion dancing by the KU Lion Dance Team, and mooncake-making demonstrations and workshops. (additional tickets for purchase are required for the culinary mooncake program.)
