In July 2020, during the pandemic, The Museum of Kansas City launched Restore KC as a part of its ongoing work to use restorative practices for developing exhibits and programs. Restore KC was a series of virtual conversations and programs for Kansas Citians to connect, process, and heal during the global pandemic The Museum of Kansas City is now continuing Restore KC as a series of ongoing virtual education programs to use restorative practices for the common goal of telling a more complete history of our city and uplifting our shared humanity.
In celebration of Black History Month, Restore KC will feature international genealogy consultant, Kathleen Brandt. Kathleen has more than 10 years of experience as a Professional Genealogist and is a licensed Private Investigator. Her clients include NBC Who Do You Think You Are? Seasons 2010-2011, PBS, Finding Your Roots, with Henry Louis Gates, 2012 and she appeared on the History Channel, How the States Got Their Shape, 2012. She has extensive experience in international and nationwide documentation retrieval, free-colored research, military record reconstructions, and tracing slaves.
As a freelance writer, her genealogy articles have been published online through Archives.com and AARP magazines, and on the a3Genealogy blog where she provides educational and informational articles on history, genealogy, and research methodology.

Participants will be inspired to explore their roots and preserve their family legacies for future generations.
