May is the month we celebrate Memorial Day, the federal holiday for honoring and mourning the U.S. military personnel who died while serving in the armed forces.
However, it is a day that many of us also mourn the loss of family and friends. The holiday observance raises questions of how we struggle with the reality of death, cope with loss, and process grief. This month’s episode of Restore KC will feature Shareda M. Rollins who is an accomplished leader with a diverse background in training delivery, program management and leadership consulting. Shareda is also well acquainted with bereavement. Her memoir, God & A Plan: A Daughter’s Death and Mother’s Rebirth, reveals the 16 powerful lessons that emerged from the depths of her grief.
In her powerful book, Shareda recounts her path to escaping depression, relying on the wisdom of female mentors, and managing the intertwined challenges of family, faith, and finances as she grappled with a new reality following her 8-year-old daughter’s passing. As an author, her writing focuses on resilience, the pursuit of joy, and discovering the empowerment necessary to thrive.
