Burnt Legend, a joint project from KCPT, Flatland and Recommended Daily, is a film that peers inside the smoky, rich world of Kansas City barbecue and shines a light on one of the city’s defining foods. Host Jonathan Bender talks to pitmasters, barbecue fans, and historians to explore how brisket is smoked, chopped, and transformed into a saucy, crispy pile of heaven.
Community Historian and Educator Erik Stafford will lead a discussion following the film in Café at 3218 on the first floor of Corinthian Hall. In 2009 Erik started the Kansas City Tour Company and began conducting tours of the historic sites in the Kansas City area and creating interactive presentations that allow people to make connections between the past, present, and future.
As a special treat, attendees of the screening will be able to sample burnt ends prepared by Gerald Dunn, Pitmaster, and owner of Dunn Deal BBQ.
