Opened as Liberty Memorial in 1926, the National WWI Museum and Memorial is celebrating its centennial this year.

Join us on a walking tour series that carves through the history of the National WWI Museum and Memorial and the elements of its distinctive design. The first tour will be led by Elizabeth Amirahmadi, AIA, Principal and Co-founder of International Architects Atelier and Andy Short, Director of Operations at International Architects Atelier at The Museum of Kansas City, originally the home of the Liberty Memorial Association’s former President. Mr. Long led the fundraising effort that brought in about $2.5 million to build Liberty Memorial.

Guests will learn the architecture history of Mr. Long’s former home and view the dining room where Mr. Long hosted an affair that was attended by, among others, three WWI admirals and their aides.

White wine, house soda, or drip coffee will be provided after the tour. All tours will include walking up and down multiple flights of stairs, both indoors and outdoors. Please wear comfortable walking shoes.

Hosted in partnership with the National WWI Museum and Memorial and conjunction with their exhibition Story of the Memorial.
